In Memory of Hajra Nasar

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
”Surely we belong to Allah, and to Him shall we return.”

Hajra was a proponent of women’s education and spiritual development. In every way that she could, she supported endeavors that helped women to grow around her. Hajra was a mother, daughter, wife, sister, teacher, aunt, mentor, friend, and confidant. She found happiness in seeing others succeed and touched the lives of so many. May Allah ﷻ grant her ease, strength, and enter her into Jannah without accountability. Ameen.

We would like to honor her memory by creating a scholarship that supports the education of women in the sciences of Islam. This scholarship will serve as a sadaqa jariyah (a continuing charity) on her behalf. A sadaqa jariyah is a gift that benefits those in this life as well as one in the next. The Prophet ﷺ said: “When a person dies all his deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a child who prays for him.”

Funds will be sent directly to Qalam Seminary, an institution built to inspire growth in individuals through nurturing education built on a sacred foundation. These funds will help to support the educational needs of female students.
